Welcome! My name is Dr. Divya Jain, I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and founder of Bodh Center for Wellness. I am experienced in helping adults through individual talk therapy when they are trying to gain insight into relational dynamics in their family of origin, learn skills and behavioral techniques to better manage symptoms of anxiety and depression, or redefine culturally determined relationships. When conducting neuropsychological evaluations, I am careful and diligent in considering the impact that various cultural, social, and institutional settings have on one’s cognitive abilities.
I root my therapy practice in Acceptance and Commitment Therapies while blending knowledge of Attachment theories, traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and evidence-based mindfulness and relaxation strategies. My clients particularly resonate with the framework of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy because of how it helps them clarify and better align with their core values. By focusing our insight-oriented work on values, we are better able to figure out what behavioral skills will help you do the fine dance that is involved in straddling the individualistic Western culture and the collectivistic non-Western (Latin, African, Middle Eastern, Asian) cultures that we live in as first and second generation immigrants here in the United States.
I myself am a Third Culture Kid who spent several formative years growing up as an Expatriate in the Middle East. As a mom of two, I am sensitive to the struggles of re-discovering oneself in motherhood, renegotiating familial roles and responsibilities, re-establishing a sense of intimacy in one’s marriage, and figuring out one’s shifting priorities with respect to work-life balance. I am also a career changer and remember feeling as though I was starting life over from scratch. It was tough and vulnerable work to establish and then re-establish a sense of identity and belonging at each of those stages in my life.
While my niche is in supporting parents, I welcome inquiries from all who could benefit from some support in navigating a major life transition. Through PSYPACT, I am authorized to practice telehealth across 40+ states. In working with me, you can expect to find a collaborative and engaged partner interested in helping you find your way back to leading a meaningful and fulfilling life.
"Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness." - Peter A. Levine, Ph.D.
When I’m not supporting you or meeting my family’s needs, I’m trying to make time for myself. When I succeed, I am rowing, yoga-ing, jigsaw puzzling, or ruminating about how I should be doing all of the above. I also like to daydream about having time to travel again.
Dr. Jain provides individual and couples therapy to adults (ages 25+) and conducts neuropsychological assessments across the lifespan (ages 8-90). She has worked in academic hospitals, Veteran Affairs hospitals, college counseling centers, private practice settings, and in healthcare business consulting firms. Dr. Jain founded Bodh Center for Wellness in 2021.
